Dr. Methu, a seasoned agricultural professional with a PhD in dairy cattle nutrition from the University of Reading, an MSc in animal nutrition from Aberdeen University, and a BSc in agriculture from the University of Nairobi, brings over 30 years of expertise in agricultural research for development across various African countries.
His extensive career began with the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) and later expanded to international and regional organizations such as the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Land O’ Lakes International, and the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA).
During his tenure at ASARECA, Dr. Methu played a pivotal role in implementing numerous agricultural research and development projects, providing support to farmers in East and Central Africa. Serving as the head of Partnerships and Capacity Development, he mentored and supported hundreds of agricultural research professionals across eleven countries. Additionally, he served as the regional coordinator for the World Bank-funded project, Eastern Africa Agricultural Productivity Project (EAAPP), among others.
In the past three years, Dr. Methu has established himself as a consultant and entrepreneur in Kenya. In 2017, he founded Kilimo Innovations Limited ,a farming and agricultural consulting company, showcasing his commitment to advancing innovation and expertise in the field.
